Alternative Giving

Our Alternative Christmas Gifts program will be quite different this year! Since we cannot set up our usual tables during coffee hour this year, we are offering an online-only opportunity to purchase Alternative Gifts for friends and family for Christmas.

What to Expect

We understand that visiting a new church can be an intimidating experience. But please know we are thrilled to have you join us! We love to share our community with others.

We are aware that Watkins Glen and the Finger Lakes are popular vacation destinations, so don't worry if you forgot to pack your "Sunday Best!" Our focus is on fellowship and service, rather than the state of your jeans.

Our lobby has two entrances: the main doors open onto Decatur Street, and wheelchair access is around the corner on 6th. Our parking lot is located behind the church, with its entrance on 6th Street; street parking is also allowed.

A greeter will hand you a bulletin when you walk in. This lists events and announcements, and an order of worship with all the responsive readings, Bible verses and hymn numbers you will need during the service. Personal PA receivers and large print Bibles and bulletins are also available for your listening and reading assistance; just ask your greeter!

Children may sit with their families in the sanctuary for the first part of worship. After our brief time of fellowship and greeting, they will be called to the front of the sanctuary for a sermonette, after which babies and preschool-aged children will be escorted to the nursery. †

† During summer hours, there may be no children's sermonette; instead, children are invited to exit the sanctuary during the second hymn. (Watch the reader; when he or she steps down from the chancel, the church staff will accompany children to their classrooms.)

Please use the offering time to simply enjoy the music. We do not expect visitors to put money in the offering. We sing mostly traditional hymns accompanied by choir, piano, pipe organ and trumpet.

Summer service times and office hours differ from the rest of the year, so please check this site for the latest information! Unless otherwise noted in our newsletter or church calendar: We observe communion on the first Sunday of each month. We join together for coffee and punch in the Fellowship Hall after the second Sunday service of each month. We collect contributions for the community Two-Cents-a-Meal and Food Bank programs on the third Sunday of each month.

We hope you will find our Sunday Morning Worship Service a most uplifting start to your week!
